Growing Home Greens is a free planting calendar and garden designer. There are no accounts, no sign-up, and no newsletter at the moment, so there is very little to collect. This page explains the little there is.
What stays in your browser
The garden you build in the Garden Designer is saved in your own browser's local storage, under the key gardenplanner.designer.plan. It is never sent to us and we have no copy of it. That also means it is not backed up anywhere: clearing your browsing data deletes your saved garden permanently, and it will not follow you to another device or browser. Use the designer's download button if you want a copy you control.
Your USDA zone is remembered in two places so you don't have to re-enter it: agardenplanner_zone cookie that lasts a year, and agardenplanner.zone local-storage entry. The cookie is read on the server only to forward /calendar to the right zone page. It holds a zone label such as7b and nothing else: no identifier, no history, and it is not shared with anyone.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which pages get visited. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and does not track you across other websites. What we get is aggregate counts (page views, referrers, rough country), not individual visitors. We cannot identify you from it.
Affiliate links
Some links to products are affiliate links, including Amazon Associates links. When you click one, the retailer is told the visit came from us so any commission is credited correctly. From that point you are on the retailer's site and their privacy policy applies, not ours. We do not receive your order details, payment information, or any personal data back from those retailers, only aggregate earnings reports. See the disclosure in the site footer for more.
The "Save" buttons on our plant and article pages are ordinary links. We deliberately do not load Pinterest's tracking script, so Pinterest is not told you visited a page unless you click through to save it.
What we don't do
- No accounts, passwords, or user profiles.
- No email addresses collected. There is no signup form on the site.
- No advertising networks, retargeting pixels, or cross-site trackers.
- No selling or sharing of personal information. We have none to sell.
Children
This site is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
You can clear the cookie and local-storage entries above at any time through your browser's settings for this site. Doing so only means the site forgets your zone and your saved garden. Because we hold no personal data on our servers, there is nothing else for us to delete on request. If you have a question about any of this, please ask.
Changes
If we add anything that collects more than the above, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. Features that store personal information will not ship before this page describes them.
