How to care for a spider plant
Prefers medium light and tolerates deep shade, but not direct sun. It grows best in moist soil, though it survives drought, and should be watered less in winter. Chlorine and fluoride in tap water can burn the leaf tips, so rainwater or filtered water helps. Don't overfeed: too much fertilizer means fewer plantlets. Plantlets form after about three weeks of short days (under 12 hours of light), and each one can be rooted as a new plant.
Common problems
No significant problems. Brown leaf tips usually trace back to tap water.
