How to care for a corn plant
Slow growing. Keep it in bright to moderate filtered light: direct sun burns it, and too little light makes new leaves narrow. Keep the soil moist in the growing season and cut back in winter. Use ordinary potting soil in a pot with drainage holes, and repot when it starts lifting out of the pot. It thrives at 70 to 80°F; keep it above 50°F. Propagate from stem cuttings.
Common problems
Leaf tips brown when indoor air is dry, especially with winter heating; a humidifier helps.
